The ship is made of plastic, not wood.
Celebrity Cruises View-Master Stereo Viewer in the form of a cruise ship. It is in good condition overall and works. When you look through the viewer and push the red button on the side of the ship, it lights up inside to show images of inside the cruise ship. This was used as a display in the travel agents office to entice people to go on a cruise.
Celebrity Cruises CruiseScope Display with lighted View-Master Viewer & Reel. This was Made for Celebrity Cruises in 1999, the ship is 41" (104cm) from forcastle to stern; About 11” high - top smoke stack, and approximately 6” wide. yes,a mighty ship of 0.004 metric tons displacement. 1000 were made at a cost of 0.00 each, shipped to district sales managers of top producing travel agencies for on-premises POP display. 12% were destroyed in shipping, another 82% were destroyed (according to info on the web) "on floor" because they were not weighted down at the hook on the bottom of the specially fitted tripod, and, "oops!" they tipped over. This particular ship was found at an estate sale. There was a featured article about this ship in "Inside 3D Magazine" vol.3 no.3, Summer 2002. Copies of the magazine are available online. This ship comes complete with specially produced Celebrity Cruises commercial reel for the internally lighted viewer. This is a really neat find but keep in mind it is very large. It is in good used condition, it was used for years and will show some wear, after all, over 20 years old.
This is perfect for a travel agency display, Celebrity Cruises collection, View Master Collection, bar, yacht club, marina, restaurant, and more. Originally looks like this was on a tripod, didn’t come with one.
